Winter discipleship for young adults begins on Thursday, January 11th at 7pm at the church. In Matthew 28, Jesus clearly stated what He was looking for from His followers—disciples! The early Church was a powerful, Spirit-filled movement that laid the foundation for Church expansion, and eventually grew to billions of believers throughout the world. The Spirit of the Lord is calling out to us in this hour—to not only believe, but to be trained to continue in the work of Christ; to truly be disciples of Jesus. Join Pastor Rich and take a next step in your journey! To join this class, fill out our sign-up form. Have questions or want more information, fill out our contact form.
In Pre-Understanding God your student will learn why the people of the Bible matter. At this age, the students are becoming accountable to the good and bad consequences of their choices. This class allows them to discuss these themes, build a Christian perspective, develop connections with other like-minded peers and learn how they can make choices, based on accounts of important people from the Bible. This class will leave after praise and worship for room 510. Click here to sign-up.
REQUIRED MATERIALS: NIV Study Bible, pen and one time fee $15.00. Books are available through Gabriel Carnell. A check can be mailed to Mt Zion Church, or payment can be given directly to Gabriel Carnell.
In Understanding God your student will learn what we as Christians actually believe. Things like baptism, gifts of the Holy Spirit, communion, confirmation, anointing with oil, and eternity. Students will have an opportunity to be baptized, confirmed into the faith and receive their first communion. This class will answer questions about God, solidify their faith and lay the foundation necessary for a healthy, vibrant Christian life. This class will leave after praise and worship for room 509. Click here to sign-up.
REQUIRED MATERIALS: NIV Study Bible (your child’s personal Bible), Understanding God book (2006 revised edition), Understanding God Student Workbook, one time fee $30.00. Books are available through Gabriel Carnell and are included in the class fee. A check can be mailed to Mt Zion Church, or payment can be given directly to Gabriel Carnell.
Note: Each of these books will be used daily. Their workbooks will be left at the church and sent home through the year for make up work. They will need their Bible at every single class. There is no discount offered if they have the Understanding God book or workbook prior to registration. Although the classes can be joined and attended at any point during the year, your child will be considered eligible for the annual Confirmation Ceremony if they attend the majority of the classes, can complete the class assessment and have completed their workbook.
In this class your child will learn how what they believe actually affects their everyday life. Applying Your Faith is a curriculum taught mainly through small group activities and lessons that are gender specific. Due to the smaller size of the groups and the integration of adult service themes and ideas, your student will get a chance to learn how to think critically about culture and its effect on biblical Christianity, how to be a part of the larger church as a whole and realize how their faith equips them to be an integral part of the church. This class will leave after praise and worship for their separate guy and girl classrooms. Click here to sign-up.

We are very excited to offer all of our Understanding God Program classes this fall. On Sunday mornings kids from 6th -9th grade for this school year can be a part of class during the 10:30am service. These classes are unique and influential for a variety of reasons. The kids that your child will spend their time with in these classes can become the group they will grow up with. Not only that but the opportunity to learn, think and experience God’s goodness in these classes where dialogue is a staple and questions are encouraged, make them really exceptional. We have a committed team of young adults and volunteers who have spent their youth growing up in the church. They have a great deal to offer your family as you work to instill and foster faith in your kids. These classes can be joined at any time. If you have questions or want more information, call Middle School Director Gabriel Carnell at 248-391-6166 ext. 910 or fill out our contact form.

There is a designated handicap parking lot adjacent to Door #1 in the main parking lot. You can access this parking lot by entering at the Mt. Zion sign off Maybee Rd. Please note, there are a limited number of spaces in this lot so if a handicap space is needed, we encourage you to arrive early. Depending on traffic, we also have the ability to ‘drop off’ any family member with limited mobility at Door #1 and then it is possible for the driver to finish parking the vehicle and meet their family member in the center lobby. Again, if this is of interest, we recommend you arrive early. Otherwise, traffic patterns limit maneuverability in the parking lot to park your vehicle after Drop Off. We look forward to seeing you at our events and if you have any questions, please call us at (248) 391-6166.
